Overview:

Metal-In Static Shielding Zip Lock Bags

Our Static Shielding Ziplock Bags are designed with Faraday Cage protection and are perfect for shipping electrically sensitive components. They achieve this by acting like a Faraday cage, redirecting electrical charges around the bag and preventing them from reaching the contents packaged within. Its buried metal construction provides double protection against static discharge. This includes items that could be damaged by static in shipment or storage, such as circuit boards, hard drives, sound cards, etc. These static control bags have an amine/amide-free interior and will not corrode polycarbonate surfaces and produces no outgassing. The 3/8" side seal ensures packaging integrity during storage and handling.

Made from semi transparent materials, they have 60% visibility/40% opacity, which allows for easy identification of contents.

The static shielding notice is stamped in yellow onto the bags and read: "Static Shielding Bag. Attention Observe precautions for handling electrostatic discharge sensitive devices"

How to select the correct anti-static bag for your product:

We carry different types of static shielding bags with different levels of protection. You first need to determine what level of electro-static protection is required for your product. Once you have determined the level of protection needed, you can then choose the right bag to protect your product. Here is a breakdown of the differences:

  • Pink Anti Static:
  • The additive will prevent the build-up of static electricity on the bag surface but will not protect the item inside from ESD

  • Metallic Static Shielding:
  • In addition to preventing static build-up, it will also act as a Faraday cage to shield the contents inside from external ESD

Faraday Cage - is made of a conductive material which shields the inside from external electric fields by creating a second electric field in the opposite direction thus protecting the product in the bag. Made of Polyethylene, Polyester, and Aluminum Layers with an Anti-static Coating. The metal layer creates a conductive shield that redirects electrostatic discharge away from the contents.

    What is ESD?

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. A buildup of static electricity can be caused by tribocharging (when two surfaces rub together) or by electrostatic induction. (Even without touching but just by two substances coming close to one another) Use our anti static bags to prevent ESD!

    Bag Construction and compliance

Metallic static shielding bags are made of multiple film layers to achieve their results. They are made up of Polyethylene, Polyester, and Aluminum Layers with an Anti-static Coating to meet electrical and physical requirements of ANSI/ESD S541, EIA 625 and are ANSI/ESD S20.20 program compliant. Additionally these bags are tested per MIL-STD-3010 4046 and ANSI/ESD STM11.11

Each bag features a prime quality zipper so the bag can easily be open and shut, additionally the ziplock feature allows for repeated opening and closing so the bag can be reused

Our metallic static shielding bags complies with California Proposition 65 and all applicable CONEG heavy metal restrictions and are REACH compliant as well.

    Bag Storage

Static Shielding Bags have a shelf life of 2 years when properly stored – these bags are to be stored at temperatures less than 120 degrees Fahrenheit and should avoid being stored in direct sunlight.
